Site News : U5 and U7 Testing on Alum Creek Columbus Ohio
Posted by Kevin on 2009/6/22 13:00:00 (166 reads)

The Aqua Productions Race team put 5 boats on the water to support the event and had one boat in reserve. We had 10 team member volunteers, a team photographer and a few friends and family kicking in. Our team setup/tore down the bouys for the event, helped manage the pits and ran the event from the water side. Everything went very well and we got really lucky on the weather. We spent 7 hours on-site getting ready Friday and never got rained on. Our alarm clocks went off at 4:30 AM and we were in place before 5:30 for a 6 am start. The weather held off on Saturday and despite some gusty conditions, was a perfect morning. It's interesting to note that Alum Creek averaged less than 12 inch chop for the 4 hours of testing with 15 to 20 mph winds. This site is definitely ideal for this type of event and we hope that the good overall event experience helps makes this a future APBA race site. Thanks to our team and supporters for their long hours and hard work.

There has been a lot going on and more than I can write about. The GNH 33 boat ran real well at Dayton testing and we had fun running the F-37 at the same event. I will toss in a few pictures as soon as I can. This next weekend June 20th we will be running Ted Porter's U-5 and U-7 boats on Alum Creek here in Columbus. We are excited to play on our local waters. Get up early as the boats are only running from 6-10 in the morning and what a beautiful way to watch a sunrise behind a 300' roostertail.

Site News : The 2009 race season is finally here !!!
Posted by Kevin on 2009/2/19 23:23:05 (80 reads)

I'm off to take a dunk test at the APBA Region 6 Spring meeting and getting ready to kick off the 2009 season.
Man is it going be a wild ride this year. Our crew has 6 or 7 current and vintage race boats that will be wet and 8-10 events to spread them out at.
We will be running the GNH-33 which will have a decent motor campaign thanks to Hootie and we may have a new addition helping Steve Wolfe run his NM-77 boat, the "Orange Crush too". Steve has put a lot of effort into his boat and it shows like it. The F-333 sold over the winter to Alan Trotter and the good news is she will be sticking around the stables another year or so which is good news for those who love the sound and smell of methanol. The "Blue Chips" S-07 will be making the tour to a few vintage events and she's a real fun boat to drive and share. The SK-333 "Miss Mandella" will be one of most fun as she runs both on and off the race course and has given some of the best rides of any boat we have. Be sure to ask for one. Rotten Rob's driving and his incredible boat the SK-169 "Can't Wait" has sent so many passengers running off the docks his boat could easily be sponsored by Depends. Rob "Flyboy" Frey has the SK-184 back and ready for some more flybys as well. If we can only get Steve Phillips to break out his huge flat bottom collection. He has some the coolest hot rod boats I have ever seen and is by all means, a one man boat show.

We plan on attending most all of Region 6 events including the new playground here at Alum Creek here in Columbus,Ohio on Father's day weekend.
Stay tuned in for more details on all the above and look forward to a fun and exciting summer.

Site News : Getting ready for 2009
Posted by Kevin on 2008/10/15 18:00:06 (157 reads)

The season has ended here in Region 6 and the boats are getting winterized and tucked away. We will still be skiing until it freezes but, even those days are going to come to an end soon. I dropped a rod in the Miss Mandella up on Grand Lake in Celina so we will be starting our winter projects earlier than expected as Rotten Rob does not want to put away any boats that are not ready to run. Stuff like that makes the season never end.

I want to thank everyone that helped out this year as none of this happens without our team mentors like Rob Kaufman, our good crew, and great crew chief Eric Hoeft. We met some fantastic new friends along the way and traveled to some new sites that I hope to make it to again next year. We have a few cool new projects that will add a flare in 2009 and we may be adding some new opportunities for race sites as well. It's too early to elaborate, but if you want to know or help out with our group please e-mail me directly at KevinK@columbus.rr.com .

I will be adding some fresh photos over the winter as I clean out some old files and if you have anything you may want to share, please send them to me as I will post for all to see.

Once again, Thanks for a great 2008 tour.
Cheers, Kevin Klosterman

Site News : Hillsboro bound
Posted by Kevin on 2008/9/9 12:34:16 (135 reads)

Thunder in the Hills! I've been going to this race since I used to be their Barefoot Exhibitions back in the early 90's. My son Lucas was there when he was 1 month old and the whole time I was skiing, they were talking about Lucas. I love this site. It's a racer's race with little pagentry, a camping atmosphere and usually followed by a hangover Sun. morning. We will be running four boats there this weekend if Steve Wolfe can get his NM boat up from Atlanta. The SK-333, SK 484 and the S-07 Blue Chips will keep us real busy and likely sore on Monday again. I am just recovering from Wheeling and here we go again. Funny thing, I was barerfooting on Sunday afternoon and a rare fall hyper extended my body which seemed to fix what was sore before. I'm a regular at the "Hair of the Dog" clinic.
